In a Nutshell

The Write Doctors are committed to offering the best, most comprehensive writing, editing, and tutoring services available--at an affordable price.

• For writing projects, we offer customized bids based on an initial consultation (or set of meetings) with you about the design and requirement of your project.
• For editing projects, we can, for most standard types of projects, offer you an hourly bid based on the type of piece you need edited.
• For tutoring and instruction, we offer rates based on half-hour time segments and the kind of attention you need.

Writing Projects

Writing clients’ needs vary widely, depending on the scope, length, technical requirements, and complexity of the project. A personal or phone consultation is preferable, but we are also happy to discuss your project via email or in writing.

Our Bids are typically based on an estimation of how many total hours the project will require for preparation, drafting, editing, and finalizing. Hourly estimates typically translate to between $.50 and $1.00 per word. We will offer you a Bid in writing and, upon approval, will then provide a Contract that includes the description of the project, all relevant details, and a payment agreement. Projects will be invoiced separately from the Contract and payments are typically due within 30 days. For large contracts, we can invoice in several payments.

Editing, Coaching and Consultation Services

The Write Doctors provide general editorial services, line and copyediting, conceptual consultation, and proofreading. We also offer coaching services if you find yourself having trouble getting started, writing, or organizing your work. In most cases, these services range on a scale from $30 to $90 per hour depending on the complexity of your project and the depth of attention you require. For longer-term editing projects, such as a full-length book or a manual with chapters, hourly rate discounts are available.

Tutoring

Our tutoring rate for graduate students, undergraduates, and high school students is $20 per half hour.

Tutoring and instruction services, as well as on-the-job seminars, are also available to business and non-profit clients.
