nancy wadsworth, ph.d. specialties: writing and editing services; tutoring and instruction Nancy Wadsworth has been developing the craft of writing since she penciled her first poem, “Snow!”, at age eight. Following the model of her innovative high school English teacher, Marilyn Whirry (who later won the national “Teacher of the Year” award), she set out to weave thinking, writing and teaching into a viable career. She studied Social Theory and Women’s Studies at the University of California at Santa Cruz, then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Political Science from the New School for Social Research in New York City. During the lean years of graduate school, she supported herself through a fascinating spectrum of corporate and non-profit jobs. (See resumé.) Dr. Wadsworth writes in a variety of genres and has published academic articles, creative non-fiction pieces, training manuals, web sites, short stories, and poetry. She has taught writing and Political Science at Eugene Lang College and Cornell University and currently teaches in the Women’s Studies program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In her spare time, she is completing a book manuscript about racial reconciliation among evangelical Christians and a screenplay about the perplexing quest for “true love”.
